Under the hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.0L V6 engine mated to a 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission with manual mode. Producing 396 horsepower and 384 lb-ft of torque, it can sprint from 0-60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.5 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited at 250 km/h.
The new E43 touts a rear-leaning version of Mercedes' 4Matic all-wheel-drive system, which designates 69 percent of its power to the rear wheels, more than the split in power that traditional AWD systems use. According to Autocar, the E43 also boasts a bolstered version of the E-Class's Air Body Control suspension, which delivers three modes: Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus. An AMG Dynamic Select button also allows drivers to seamlessly switch between the vehicle's five transmission modes
